At Moral Compass Kids we believe in helping children to create a healthy sense of self because they deserve to grow up with healthy thoughts, respectful behaviours and positive beliefs about themselves and others. Our programs help children understand their gifts, that their dreams matter and that it is ok to stand out and not feel pressured to fit in.
This dream started when Tara's oldest daughter Hannah was only 7 years old (she is now 13 years old at the time I write this)...Hannah was having difficulty using her unique voice with her peers at school and she was feeling forced to do the things her friends wanted her to do, even though she didn't want to. We began talking about "Moral Compass Kids" as a family. Hannah wanted to invent a Moral Compass Kids Club (and my fears got in the way from launching it) and now in 2021, we are (not only) applying the principals as a family as we have since 2014, we are now sharing them beyond our own family.
Ms. Megan at Hummingbird Montessori helped us bring it to life when she asked me (Tara) to teach 1/2 a day per week (in 2020-2021) for me to focus on these principles that focus on helping children nurture a healthy sense of self. (awareness, self love, self respect, self confidence, and more). We believe children are happier and more successful in life when they feel empowered to have some control over their mindset and emotional wellbeing. After all our children are our next generation of leaders and we believe that parents and teachers all do their very best, and that supplementing with some additional self-growth opportunities at a young age can benefit our children even beyond childhood into and throughout adulthood.
We pride ourselves on bringing lasting ideas, empowering content and useful tools to children so that they will be able to grow up with greater self awareness than many adults we know had the opportunity to do when they were kids (me included). Personal growth is no longer just for the adults that want to make a life change...I believe that it is important for everyone no matter what age. Our programs are best suited for ages 4 through to 16, however anyone can benefit (even parents will as we encourage some activities to be done as a family).
